The Tempest (York) Gets Rave Reviews

This March our York branch completed their 2018 tour of William Shakespeare’s The Tempest. This fabulous cast worked hard throughout the tour and produced a magnificent version of this classic play. Not only did they convert a Shakespeare reluctant, but also had feedback stating they were better than productions seen in Stratford! This production is now being passed on to our Windsor group for another fantastic show.

Jorvik to Perform at Kirkstall Abbey

This year Jorvik Rep take three productions to the stunningly beautiful Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds. Steeped in history this is the perfect backdrop for the chosen performances. First up in early October is Dracula which will be performed in the Abbey ruins themselves perfectly suited to the atmosphere of the play. Also to be performed in the ruins is Macbeth, again the historic setting being perfect for this Shakespearean masterpiece. Then as we come up to Christmas we move into Abbey House Museum where the Victorian Streets will host us for a beautiful performance of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol. The atmosphere here will be astonishing for these classics and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Poe Delight

The tales of Edgar Allan Poe lent themselves nicely to the atmospheric Abbots Staith in Selby this January. With actors reciting their favourite tales or poems to an audience braving the cold. And of course no Evening with Edgar Allan Poe would be complete without The Raven. The directorial debut of our very own Victoria Hudson and Ruth Sampson proved to be a great start for the 2018 calendar. Featuring tales such as The Tell Tale Heart and poems like A Dream Within A Dream we ventured into a world of classic storytelling with the mastery that is Poe.

Jorvik Rep announces new sister company.

Today marks the start of a new production company linked to Jorvik Rep. Introducing JMT Productions, our specialist company focusing on Musical Theatre. This is definitely one to watch with a major 2019 production in the planning stages.

A Christmas Carol success!

Our last performance of 2017 was a roaring success from a fantastic cast. Within the beautiful setting of Abbot’s Staith in Selby our cast of regular and fresh faces took to the stage to tell the classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol. Watch out for some of this fantastic cast in our upcoming productions.

Wuthering Heights goes down a treat in Windsor

In November the Windsor team performed a beautiful rendition of Emily Bronte’s Wutherimg Heights, directed by Diana Brooks. The beautiful setting of St Agnes church lent itself perfectly to the atmosphere of the play. With two evening performances and a matinee, audience members were moved to tears by the emotional performance of the actors narrated beautifully by Natasha Green as Nelly.

First promotional video released by the York team

December sees Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol come to Abbot’s Staith. With a stellar cast of both regular actors and fresh young faces it’s set to be a big hit in Selby.

In a fresh move for the theatre, our very own Dianna Brooks, Nance Turner and Victoria Hudson took to the streets of Selby with cameraman Geoff Stockholm and lighting assistant Bo Turner. Embracing the cold they created a beautiful trailer for the production (below) as well as another due for release very soon.
